Centennial Anniversary of the Birth of Kunihiko Kodaira
Kunihiko Kodaira (1915 -- 1997) was one of the giants in the 20th century mathematics. He generalized the theory of Riemann surfaces of Hermann Weyl to create the theory of complex manifolds based on analysis in the large and cohomology of sheaves. He was accordingly awarded many prestigious prizes, including the Fields Medal, Japan's Order of Culture and Wolf Prize.
In order to celebrate Kodaira's centennial anniversary, the MSJ plans to organize
- 1) Special lectures on global analysis and complex manifolds
- 2) Open Lectures for Citizens
- 3) Exhibition of documents, photography and videos related to Kunihiko Kodaira
