The Reviewing Service Zentralballt MATH: Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract:

The enormous growth of mathematical publications and the transition to electronic publishing bears great risks but also great opportunities. This concerns in particular the reviewing services, such as Zentralblatt MATH (zbMAH). In my talk I shall treat the following topics, with a special view to open access publishing:

- Changes of the publication structure in mathematics

- Quality control in mathematical publications

- Enhancements by linking publications with software and research data

- Reviewing services as quality control and integrating factor for the mathematical literature

My analysis is based on various sources, in particular on data and examples from zbMATH.
